H.O.P.E. Devotional

Rummaging through a drawer of scarves and other items, I found a letter tucked away between a scarf and a Bible cover. This letter, a precious find, was penned by my grandmother and contained words of life! Encouraging words to continue in a renewed revival of intimacy with my Savior, Jesus Christ! My grandmother always spoke and wrote words of hope and life! Hope in the good work Christ began in my heart as it blooms and flourishes. She reminded me that Christ began the work and will complete it!

Precious words of hope and life resounded through the ages as men of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, wrote many books, prophecies, and letters that completed the Bible. These men wrote Words of truth, healing, salvation, freedom, restoration, hope, and life. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 - All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

One of these Holy Spirit-inspired men penned Revelation. The apostle John, Jesus' last living disciple, as an older man in his late 80s to early 90s, saw a vision in the spirit and wrote a book to seven churches. This book, titled Revelation, reveals Jesus Christ. The entire Bible points to and reveals Jesus. Jesus is the Lamb of God, slain for salvation, to most American Christians, seen as a humble Savior who suffered, died, and rose again.

Often, we do not see Him as a glorious, all-powerful, victorious King and Warrior who has all authority and is the creator of the universe. Revelation reveals Him in all His Majesty as conquering King and slayer of Satan, his demonic hordes, enemies of God’s Kingdom, Babylon, evil nations, leaders, and men who refuse to repent. John, Jesus' beloved disciple, when he turned to view Jesus in Revelation chapter one, he fell at Jesus' feet as dead.

This disciple loved Jesus; John referred to himself as the disciple Jesus loved! They were close, but when John saw Jesus Christ revealed in chapter one of Revelation, John fell as dead before the awesome, powerful, glorious Son of God. Yes, Jesus is the Victorious King of Kings and Lord of All. What good news is resounding in this Book of Revelation as we see our victorious, all-powerful King Jesus revealed!
